The Wiley Team to appear on HGTV’s “ Lakefront Bargain Hunt”!

Tonya Wiley, a name now synonymous with Lake Greenwood real estate, started her Real Estate business in 2006. Her husband, Jonathan Wiley, joined her about 4 years ago forming one of Greenwood’s most successful husband and wife real estate teams. Tonya made a fast rise to the top by focusing primarily on selling property on Lake Greenwood, believing that the more people knew about Lake Greenwood, surely they would chose it over other popular, but often more expensive, lakes in South Carolina.  “There is just something about the lake that draws you in. Tonya’s go getter attitude and a savvy eye for marketing has not only allowed The Wiley Team to remain the top selling agent of Lake Greenwood property since 2006, it has now landed them and Lake Greenwood on national television. The Wiley’s just wrapped up filming with the Cable network giant HGTV. The power couple, who not only work but also live on Lake Greenwood, were sought out and chosen by HGTV to participate in an Episode of the new TV series Lakefront Bargain Hunt. “Lakefront Bargain Hunt” is a spin off the HGTV hit series “Beachfront Bargain Hunt” which is set to air in 2015.

The premise of the show is to help home seekers find the lakefront home of their dreams without breaking the bank. “Lakefront Bargain Hunt” takes viewers behind the scenes as individuals look at different homes on a lake and decide which home is meant for them. Focusing on the emotional experience of finding and purchasing a lake home, each episode shows the process as buyers search for a home. “Part of the audition process was not only selling the HGTV producers on doing an episode featuring Lake Greenwood, we also had to convince them that our town was TV worthy,  and we had to make sure we had the right buyer for the show. It was a long process which included weeks of sending data, emails, phone calls, questionnaires, and Skype interviews with Tonya and I, and then several of our buyer clients.” Says Jonathan “In the end, they thought the lake and the area was perfect and they chose our clients, David and Janet Gregg, to be the featured buyers on the episode.”  

Since the HGTV producers would only allow a single Realtor with a pair of buyers to be featured on the show, Jonathan took on filming with Tonya spearheading the event with the casting directors, film crews, and producers, as well as communicating with local individuals to prepare for filming. “The person filming had to commit to being available 12 hours a day for 5 days during the grueling filming schedule. Since my specialty is marketing, and Jonathan primarily works with our buyers, it seemed fitting for him to take on that role.” Say Tonya. “I am still beside myself. We are so excited to be a part of something that we feel could have a huge positive impact on Greenwood and all the counties surrounding Lake Greenwood. As a lifetime resident of the little town of Greenwood, I never dreamed that I would get the opportunity to be a part of a national TV show. This will be a great story for our children and for generations to come. Thanks to HGTV, everyone will see firsthand what we do on a daily basis here on Lake Greenwood. It will be captured on film forever.” Tonya says.
